Topstep opened a new product line, Topstep Labs, announcing it publicly on June 30 and publishing the details on July 1 (Topstep on LinkedIn, Topstep blog). The first drop is a $25,000 Static Trading Combine, a paid evaluation traded in simulation that costs $75 once, carries no trailing drawdown and no resets, and expires after 90 days. It is a limited run, sold outside the core subscription Combine.

Topstep Labs

Labs sells limited-run account experiments rather than permanent products. Topstep says each drop is a limited-time test and that “Some drops may become part of the core lineup” (Topstep blog). Its help center is blunter about supply: “Every drop is limited; when it’s gone, it’s gone” (Topstep Help Center). Josh Schwartzberg, formerly of The Futures Desk, leads Labs as Head of Innovation (Topstep blog).

Drop #001 terms

Topstep lists these terms for the $25K Static Trading Combine (Topstep Help Center).

Term $25K Static Trading Combine
Profit target $2,000
Max loss limit $1,000, static, fixed at $24,000
Daily loss limit $500, mandatory
Contracts 2 minis or 20 micros
Consistency target 55%
Fee $75 one time, activation free
Resets None
Expiration 90 days

The max loss limit is the balance at which the account fails. Passing the Combine opens an Express Funded Account, where Topstep caps payouts at $4,000, the same cap as the $50K Trading Combine (Topstep blog). The help center adds that the max loss limit is set to $0 after the first payout, and that a Live Funded Account starts at $5,000 minimum (Topstep Help Center).

Static instead of trailing drawdown

A trailing drawdown moves the loss limit upward as the balance rises, so profits raise the level at which an account breaches. Topstep says this account has none: the $1,000 max loss limit stays locked at $24,000 (Topstep blog, Topstep on LinkedIn). The other constraints stay in place, including a mandatory $500 daily loss limit and a 55% consistency target (Topstep Help Center).

What traders should check

The pricing differs from a subscription Combine. The $75 is a one-time charge and activation is free, but there are no resets, so a breach ends the attempt and the account expires 90 days after it starts (Topstep Help Center). Position size is capped at two minis or 20 micros, and the $4,000 payout cap applies in the Express Funded stage, not to the Combine itself. Because Labs drops are limited runs, the terms above describe this drop and not Topstep’s standing lineup.
