Topstep payout rules turn on one choice: the payout path you pick when you activate an Express Funded Account (XFA). The Standard path pays after five winning days of $150 or more. The Consistency path pays after three trading days if no day tops 40% of net profit. New traders split profits 90/10. Topstep pays from its own funds under its terms and can change or pause payouts.

Who gets which split
Traders who joined on or after January 12, 2026 split profits 90/10 from the first dollar: 90% to you, 10% to Topstep. Traders who joined the new Topstep dashboard before that date keep the older deal, 100% of their first $10,000 in lifetime profits and then 90/10. Fixed-payout Challenges, sold as limited Topstep Labs drops, pay a fixed amount with no split.
Your first Topstep payout, step by step
- Pass the Trading Combine and activate an XFA. On the Combine's Standard Path activation costs $149; on the No Activation Fee Path it costs nothing.
- Pick the Standard or Consistency path at activation. You cannot switch later.
- Standard: log five winning days of $150 or more in net P&L. They do not have to be in a row, and the first payout is exempt from the rule that you must be profitable since your last payout.
- Consistency: trade at least three days, with at least one trade each day, and keep your largest day at or below 40% of net profit.
- Request at least $125 and no more than 50% of your balance, up to the cap in the table.
- Choose a method: Prop-to-Brokerage (US only, same day if requested by 12 p.m. CT), Aeropay (US banks), Wise, ACH (US banks) or Wire/SWIFT. Topstep's ACH example shows a $30 processing fee.
After the first payout, Topstep sets the XFA's maximum loss limit to $0. If an XFA closes before its first payout, Back2Funded can reactivate it within 30 days of closure for $599, $699 or $829 by size, or $50 less if you added a DLL at purchase. The other account rules are on the Topstep rules page.
Worked example: a 50K XFA on each path
On the Standard path, a 50K XFA pays at most $2,000 per request, and only after five winning days of $150 or more. On the Consistency path the cap is $3,000 and three trading days are enough, but the 40% rule applies: with $3,000 of net profit in the window, no single day may bring more than $1,200. On either path a request can be no more than half of your balance. At 90/10, your share of $3,000 in profit is $2,700. Had you added a DLL at Combine purchase during the offer, the caps would be $4,000 and $6,000.
Live Funded Account payouts
The Live Funded Account has no payout caps. You can request up to 50% of your balance every five winning days, and after 30 winning days of $150 or more you can request daily from your unlocked balance. The DLL is mandatory in this account, the balance must stay above $0, and only Topstep's Risk Team can call a trader up to it.

Know the riskTopstep payouts come from Topstep's own funds under its terms, and Topstep can change or pause them. A Trading Combine is a paid service with simulated trading, and most people who buy one do not pass it. Not investment advice.
