CME holiday calendar 2026

The CME holiday calendar 2026 below shows how CME Globex futures trade on US holidays: early closes, halts for part of the day and full closures. What happens depends on the product group. On Monday holidays such as Labor Day, equity index futures halt at 1:00 p.m. ET and reopen at 6:00 p.m. ET, grains stay shut until 8:00 p.m. ET and livestock does not trade. Crypto futures have traded 24/7 since May 29, 2026.

CME holiday hours 2026 by product group

Each row is one holiday, and each cell shows what CME Globex does on that calendar date. CME finalizes holiday hours about two weeks before each holiday, so check the remaining dates again closer to the day.

Christmas EveChristmas Eve, Thursday, December 24, 2026, has no row in the table. CME lists a Christmas holiday window from December 24 to 26, 2026. Its Christmas settlement notice sets early settlement for equity index and crypto futures at 12:00 p.m. CT (1:00 p.m. ET) that day. A settlement time is not the same as a trading close, and the Globex hours for December 24 were not shown in CME's Holiday and Trading Hours tool when we checked on September 26, 2026. Check CME before you trade that day.

How to read the table

• Halt, reopens: trading stops early on the holiday and starts again that evening for the next trading day.
• Early close: the session ends early and does not restart until the next regular open.
• Closed: no trading on that date. "Closed, reopens 6:00 p.m." means the evening session for the next trading day still starts on time.
• Normal hours: the regular session runs.
• Open 24/7: crypto futures trade straight through the holiday.

What "trades dated" means

CME books every trade to a trade date: the trading day used for clearing, settlement and reporting. On days such as Presidents' Day, Memorial Day and Labor Day, CME publishes no settlement prices, and trades made on the holiday count toward the next trading day. "Jan 20" in the Martin Luther King Day row means a trade made on Monday, January 19, counts as a Tuesday, January 20 trade. Since June 19, 2026, trades made on a Friday US holiday carry the next trading date, usually the following Monday. If your firm counts daily losses or trading days by trade date, a holiday session may fall into the next day's count.

Notes on specific holidays

Monday holidays and Thanksgiving

On Martin Luther King Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day and Thanksgiving the pattern is the same. Equity index and interest rate futures halt at 1:00 p.m. ET, energy and metals at 2:30 p.m. ET, and all four reopen at 6:00 p.m. ET. FX futures trade normal hours. Grains are closed and reopen at 8:00 p.m. ET; on Thanksgiving they stay shut until 9:30 a.m. ET on Friday. Livestock is closed. Crypto traded normal hours on the first three and 24/7 from Labor Day on.

Good Friday, April 3

The groups split. Equity index futures closed early at 9:15 a.m. ET. Interest rate, FX and crypto futures closed at 11:15 a.m. ET. Energy, metals, grains and livestock did not trade.

Juneteenth, June 19, and Independence Day, July 3

Both fell on a Friday. Equity index, interest rate, FX, energy and metals futures closed early at 1:00 p.m. ET, and grains and livestock were closed. Trades counted for the following Monday, June 22 and July 6. Juneteenth was the first holiday after crypto futures moved to 24/7 trading, so crypto traded through it.

Day after Thanksgiving, November 27

Equity index and interest rate futures close at 1:15 p.m. ET. FX, energy and metals close at 2:45 p.m. ET. Grains and livestock skip the overnight session, open at 9:30 a.m. ET and close at 1:05 p.m. ET. Crypto trades 24/7, and its trades that day count for Monday, November 30.

New Year's Day and Christmas

On Thursday, January 1, every group was closed. Equity index, interest rate, FX, energy, metals and crypto futures reopened at 6:00 p.m. ET for Friday's session. On Friday, December 25, every group except crypto is closed. Crypto trades 24/7, with trades dated Monday, December 28.

Columbus Day (October 12) and Veterans Day (November 11) are not Globex holidays in CME's 2026 schedule.

Holiday closes and prop firm rules

A prop firm's cut-off follows the exchange, often with a margin. On holiday early closes Tradeify requires positions to be closed by 12:59 p.m. ET, one minute before the 1:00 p.m. ET early close of most groups on Juneteenth and July 3. Take Profit Trader says that missing an earlier product or holiday close liquidates the account. Rules checked on September 26, 2026.
