CME finalizes holiday hours about two weeks before each holiday, so these times can change. In that listing, New Year's Day, Good Friday and Christmas Eve are closed for every group except crypto, which trades 24/7.

"Halt, reopens" means trading stops early and starts again that evening for the next trading day. "Early close" means the session ends early and does not restart until the next regular open. "Trades dated" is the trading day that holiday trades count toward. For example, crypto futures trades made on Good Friday, March 26, count as Monday, March 29 trades.
What changes from 2026
- Good Friday. In 2026 equity index, interest rate, FX and crypto futures had a short morning session. CME's listing for March 26, 2027 shows every group except crypto closed.
- Independence Day. July 4, 2027 is a Sunday, so the holiday falls on Monday, July 5. Instead of a Friday early close, it follows the Monday pattern, but interest rate futures halt at 2:30 p.m. ET, not 1:00 p.m.
- Christmas. December 25, 2027 is a Saturday. CME lists Friday, December 24, Christmas Eve, as the holiday, closed for every group except crypto.
- New Year's Day. January 1, 2027 is a Friday. Every group except crypto is closed, with no evening reopening listed. In 2026 most groups reopened at 6:00 p.m. ET.
- Crypto. Crypto futures trade 24/7 through every holiday in the table. In early 2026 they still closed, closed early or kept normal hours on holidays.
Notes on specific holidays
Monday holidays and Thanksgiving
Martin Luther King Day (January 18), Presidents' Day (February 15), Memorial Day (May 31), Labor Day (September 6) and Thanksgiving (November 25) share one pattern. Equity index and interest rate futures halt at 1:00 p.m. ET, energy and metals at 2:30 p.m. ET, and all four reopen at 6:00 p.m. ET. FX trades normal hours and crypto 24/7. Grains close and reopen at 8:00 p.m. ET, except on Thanksgiving. Livestock is closed.
Independence Day, July 5
The one exception to the Monday pattern. Interest rate futures halt at 2:30 p.m. ET together with energy and metals, while equity index futures halt at 1:00 p.m. ET. Grains and livestock are closed all day.
Juneteenth, June 18
A Friday. Equity index, interest rate, FX, energy and metals futures close early at 1:00 p.m. ET. Grains and livestock are closed. Trades count for Monday, June 21.
Day after Thanksgiving, November 26
Equity index and interest rate futures close at 1:15 p.m. ET, and FX, energy and metals at 2:45 p.m. ET. Grains and livestock trade a short day from 9:30 a.m. to 1:05 p.m. ET.
Holiday closes and prop firm rules
Firms set their own cut-offs, and some tighten them on holidays. Tradeify's cut-off on holiday early closes is 12:59 p.m. ET, one minute before the 1:00 p.m. ET early close on Juneteenth. Take Profit Trader liquidates an account that misses an earlier product or holiday close, according to its rules. Rules checked on September 26, 2026. Firms can change these rules before the holidays come.
