Apex Trader Funding rules for accounts sold since March 1, 2026 start with a choice between an end-of-day (EOD) and an intraday trailing drawdown. The evaluation is a one-time purchase that gives you 30 days on a simulated account, with no minimum days, no consistency rule and no resets. Pass it and you move to a Performance Account (PA), also simulated, with tiered daily loss limits, contract scaling and a 50% consistency rule on payouts.
Rules on every Apex account
- Flat by 4:59 p.m. ET. You may not hold positions through the market close, so there is no overnight or weekend holding.
- Drawdown threshold. The threshold is the lowest your balance may go. On EOD accounts it is set at 4:59:59 p.m. ET and enforced during the day. On Intraday accounts it trails your peak balance in real time, open profit included.
- News. Trading during news is allowed with your normal strategy. News straddles, meaning bracket orders on both sides of the market, and "chasing the market" are prohibited.
- Directional trading only. Hedging is not allowed.
- No automation. Algorithms and automated trading are on Apex's list of prohibited activities.
- Up to 20 PAs per household, counting legacy, EOD and Intraday accounts together.
- Legacy accounts. Evaluations and PAs bought before March 1, 2026 keep their old rules, and those products can no longer be bought.
Evaluation plans and prices
Apex shows prices in a product selector at checkout. We could read only the default configuration, the 25K Intraday Trail Standard evaluation, so the other prices say "Not confirmed". A Standard evaluation adds a one-time, non-refundable PA activation fee, due within 7 calendar days of passing. No Activation Fee versions have the same rules and no activation fee.
| Plan | Size | Price | PA activation fee | Profit target | Max drawdown |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Intraday Trail, Standard | $25,000 | $199 | $69 | $1,500 | $1,000 intraday trailing |

Rules by account size
| Size | Evaluation DLL (Intraday / EOD) | PA DLL, by tier | Evaluation contracts | PA contracts, by tier |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $25K | None / $500 | $500–$1,250 | 4 | 1–2 |
| $50K | None / $1,000 | $1,000–$3,000 | 6 | 2–4 |
| $100K | None / $1,500 | $1,750–$3,500 | 8 | 3–6 |
| $150K | None / $2,000 | $2,500–$4,000 | 12 | 4–10 |
Contract counts are as Apex publishes them. For the 25K Intraday plan, Apex's homepage shows 4 minis or 40 micros in the evaluation and 2 minis or 20 micros in the PA.
EOD or intraday: what the choice changes
With an EOD Trail account, the threshold moves once a day, at 4:59:59 p.m. ET, yet a loss during the session can still reach it. The EOD evaluation also has a fixed daily loss limit (DLL), which only pauses trading for the day. With an Intraday Trail account, the threshold follows your peak balance as you trade, including unrealized profit, and the evaluation has no DLL. In a PA of either type, the threshold stops trailing once it reaches the starting balance plus $100. For the difference in general, see EOD vs intraday drawdown.
PA scaling and daily loss limits
A PA starts with a lower contract limit and DLL. Both rise in tiers as your end-of-day profit grows. These tiers replaced the old MAE rule, which limited the open loss on a trade to 30% of start-of-day profit. A PA also has an inactivity rule: Apex's Intraday PA page says it closes a PA that does not have at least two $50 net-profit days in 30 consecutive calendar days.
Worked example: a 50K EOD evaluation
You start at $50,000 with a $2,000 EOD drawdown, so the threshold starts at $48,000. It is updated at 4:59:59 p.m. ET and enforced during the next session. The DLL is $1,000: lose that in a session and trading stops until the next one, with the account intact. The target is $3,000, so a balance of $53,000 passes, even on the first day, as long as you are within your 30 days of access. In the PA that follows, the threshold stops trailing at $50,100.
What breaks an Apex account
- Touching the drawdown threshold at any time of day, on EOD and Intraday accounts alike.
- Holding a position through the 4:59 p.m. ET close.
- Prohibited activities: hedging, news straddles, chasing the market and automated trading.
- In a PA, going 30 calendar days without two $50 net-profit days.
- Running out of time: evaluation access lasts 30 days, and there are no resets.
- On EOD accounts, hitting the DLL does not fail the account. It is a soft pause for the rest of the day.
Recent rule changes
All of these took effect on March 1, 2026, for newly bought accounts:
- Billing: monthly subscriptions with resets became a one-time fee with 30 days of access, no rebill and no resets.
- Drawdown: traders now choose EOD or Intraday trailing. Before, Apex sold trailing drawdown accounts only, plus a legacy 100K Static account.
- Consistency: the 30% windfall rule on PAs became a 50% rule. Your largest day must be under 50% of the profit since your last payout.
- MAE rule: the per-trade limit on open losses was dropped in favor of tier-based DLLs and automatic scaling.
Every dated change is in the rule change log. Split, caps and qualifying days are on the Apex Trader Funding payout rules page.
Know the riskAn Apex evaluation is a paid service with simulated trading. Most people who buy an evaluation do not pass it, and firms change their rules, pause payouts and close. Read Apex's current rules before you buy. Not investment advice.
Questions
Does Apex Trader Funding have a daily loss limit?
EOD evaluations have a fixed DLL of $500 to $2,000 by size; Intraday evaluations have none. Every PA has a tiered DLL. On EOD accounts, hitting it pauses trading for the day and does not fail the account.
Is there a consistency rule at Apex?
Not in the evaluation. For PA payouts, your largest day must be under 50% of the profit since your last payout.
How fast can you pass an Apex evaluation?
In one day: there is no minimum number of trading days. You have 30 calendar days of access and no resets.
Can you trade the news with Apex?
Yes, with your normal strategy. News straddles with bracket orders on both sides of the market are prohibited.
Are trading bots allowed at Apex?
No. Automation and algorithms are on Apex's list of prohibited activities.
