Take Profit Trader rules change as you move from the Test, a paid evaluation with simulated trading, to a PRO funded account and then PRO+. The Test uses an end-of-day trailing drawdown, a 50% consistency rule and at least three trading days. PRO switches to an intraday trailing drawdown and adds news restrictions. No stage has a daily loss limit, and open positions are closed at 4:55 p.m. ET.

TakeProfitTrader LLC is a Florida company that launched Take Profit Trader in 2021. The Test is a monthly subscription. PRO is still simulated, and PRO+ trades in the live market by invitation after a review.

Rules at every stage

  • Trading hours 6 p.m. to 5 p.m. ET. Positions cannot be carried into the next trading day, and Take Profit Trader closes open positions at 4:55 p.m. ET. Weekend holding is not allowed.
  • Earlier closes. Missing an earlier close for a product or a holiday liquidates the account. Holiday hours are in our CME holiday calendar 2026.
  • No daily loss limit in the Test, PRO or PRO+.
  • No counter positions. Holding opposite positions in the same or related products, across any of your accounts, leads to liquidation and loss of profits.
  • Products. Futures on CME, CBOT, NYMEX and COMEX only, including FX futures and Micro Bitcoin and Micro Ether futures.
  • Account limits. Unlimited Tests, up to 10 passed Tests activated per rolling 30 days, and up to 5 active PRO and PRO+ accounts combined.
  • Platforms. TradingView, NinjaTrader and Tradovate on the CQG data feed; Quantower, R|Trader and other platforms on Rithmic. PRO+ runs through Tradovate.

Test sizes, prices and targets

Prices come from Take Profit Trader's homepage table. That copy still showed the old five-day minimum, so it may be older; a May 11, 2026 blog post confirms the $170 price for the 50K and says Test fees were not changing. Promotions often cut the price or waive the activation fee; the table shows full prices.

Test drawdown is end-of-day trailing. Activating PRO costs $130 once. Source: Take Profit Trader homepage and help center, checked September 26, 2026.

The Test consistency rule

Your highest profit day must be below 50% of your net P/L. Breaking this does not fail the Test. Your profit goal rises instead, so you keep trading until your best day is under half of your net P/L.

News in PRO and PRO+

You must be flat, with no working orders, from 1 minute before to 1 minute after FOMC statements (Wednesdays, 2:00 p.m. ET), nonfarm payrolls (Fridays, 8:30 a.m. ET) and CPI. Crude oil inventories are restricted for crude oil, and bond auctions for the 10-Year Note and 30-Year Bond. Fed speakers and FOMC minutes are allowed.

PRO+ drawdown

PRO+ starts at $0 with an end-of-day drawdown equal to the PRO account's starting drawdown. The FAQ says new PRO+ accounts have had this end-of-day drawdown "as of June 30th", without giving a year or the old rule.

Worked example: end-of-day vs intraday drawdown on a 50K

In the Test you start at $50,000 with a $2,000 drawdown, so the floor is $48,000. It moves only with your end-of-day balance: finish a day at $51,000 and the floor is $49,000. It stops trailing at the starting balance, so from an end-of-day balance of $52,000 the floor stays at $50,000. In PRO the drawdown is intraday and counts open profits. If a trade on a new $50,000 PRO account is up $1,000 and you then close it flat, the floor has already moved to $49,000. Our page on EOD vs intraday drawdown explains the difference.

What breaks a Take Profit Trader account

  • Touching the maximum drawdown: at end of day in the Test, intraday including open profits in PRO.
  • Missing an earlier product or holiday close.
  • Counter positions across your accounts.
  • In PRO and PRO+, not exiting before a CME limit up or limit down.
  • Breaking the Test consistency rule does not fail the account; it raises your profit goal.

Recent rule changes

  • August 17, 2026: the minimum to pass a new Test fell from 5 trading days to 3. Existing and reset Tests keep 5.
  • May 16, 2026 (announced May 11): Test resets changed from a flat $100 to $79 (25K), $99 (50K), $139 (75K), $169 (100K) and $199 (150K).

A Take Profit Trader blog post lists the removal of daily loss limits as a past change, without a date or old values, so it is not in our log. All dated changes are in our log of prop firm rule changes. Split, buffer and withdrawal fees are on the Take Profit Trader payout rules page.

Know the riskA Take Profit Trader Test is a paid service with simulated trading. Most people who buy one do not pass it, and firms change their rules, pause payouts and close. Not investment advice.
