Topstep vs MyFundedFutures is a choice between a monthly subscription and a one-time fee. Topstep bills its Trading Combine every month, uses an end-of-day loss limit and splits payouts 90/10 on two payout paths. MyFundedFutures (MFFU) sells one-time evaluations with no activation fee: Rapid pays daily at 90/10, Builder every 48 hours at 80/20. All are paid evaluations traded in simulation.

Cost: a monthly bill or one payment
A Topstep Combine renews every month until you pass or cancel. On the 50K Standard path, a trader who passes in the first month pays $49 plus the $149 activation fee, $198 in total, and each extra month adds $49. On the No Activation Fee path the first month is $95 and nothing is due at activation. MyFundedFutures charges once and adds no activation fee: a Builder 50K costs $153, the Add-On $125. A failed attempt means a new purchase. MFFU's one-time evaluations carry a seven-day inactivity rule, so an account with no trade for seven calendar days can be closed. The evaluation cost calculator works through the arithmetic for any number of attempts.
Drawdown and daily limits
Topstep has one model: the maximum loss limit follows your highest end-of-day balance, but a dip during the session can still breach it. MFFU's Builder works the same way in both stages. Its Rapid plan uses an end-of-day limit in the evaluation and switches to intraday trailing once funded, so open profit moves the floor up during the session until it locks $100 above the start. The difference is explained in EOD vs intraday drawdown. On daily limits, Topstep lets you add one at purchase for a lower price, Rapid has none, and Builder has a soft pause that ends the session without closing the account. See daily loss limit prop firm.
Consistency: before or after funding
Topstep applies a consistency rule to pass the Combine, then lets you choose a funded path with or without one. MFFU Rapid has a 50% rule in the evaluation and none once funded. Builder is the reverse: no rule to pass, then 50% on every payout cycle. The general idea is on the prop firm consistency rule page.
Payouts: pace, split and caps
Rapid is the fastest of the three: daily requests at 90/10 once the buffer is cleared, with a $500 minimum. Builder pays 80/20 every 48 hours, caps each payout at $2,000 and moves you to a live account with Blue Row Capital after the fifth approved simulated payout. Topstep keeps 10% and waits for 5 winning days or 3 trading days per payout. It caps each request at half the balance and at $2,000 (Standard) or $3,000 (Consistency) on 50K, but its minimum is $125 and its funded account has no set number of payouts.
Worked example: $3,000 of profit on a 50K funded account
- Topstep, either path. A funded account's balance counts from $0, so $3,000 of profit is a $3,000 balance, and a request can be at most half of it: $1,500. At 90/10 you receive $1,350.
- MFFU Rapid. $3,000 is above the $2,100 buffer, so you can request a payout 24 hours after your first funded trade. A $500 request pays $450 at 90/10.
- MFFU Builder. The first payout needs $2,600: the $2,100 buffer plus $500. At $3,000 you qualify after 2 qualifying days, as long as no day brought more than half the cycle's profit. A $500 request pays $400 at 80/20.
Who each firm suits
- Topstep fits a trader who expects to pass within a month or two, wants a small minimum payout and no fixed payout count, and is fine trading on TopstepX. The trade-offs: a monthly bill until you pass, an activation fee on the cheaper path and a consistency rule to pass.
- MyFundedFutures fits a trader who wants one fixed payment, no activation fee and a choice of platforms. Rapid suits daily payouts at 90/10, if you can live with an intraday trailing floor once funded. Builder suits a fast pass and a set route to a live account, at 80/20 with capped payouts.
Firm by firm, the full rules are on Topstep rules, Topstep payout rules, MyFundedFutures rules and MyFundedFutures payout rules. Changes to either firm are logged in the rule change log; see also Apex vs Topstep and futures prop firms compared.
Know the riskBoth firms sell paid evaluations traded in simulation. Most people who buy one do not pass, payouts come from each firm's own funds under its terms, and firms change rules, pause payouts and close. Not investment advice.
